While meeting with Kevin, he was concerned about what to do with the\u00a0choices on his company retirement\u00a0plan. There were several choices and\u00a0he was confused about which one was\u00a0the most appropriate for him and his\u00a0spouse. They had met with another\u00a0company who advised them to take the\u00a0lump sum distribution for the advisors\u00a0to invest.<\/p>\n

\nHis wife was pushing him to take the monthly lifetime payout that would\u00a0continue for her lifetime if anything\u00a0happened to him. Her reason was either one of them would have\u00a0this lifetime monthly income guaranteed.<\/p>\n

We reviewed his options on his retirement plan.<\/p>\n

\nHis choices were:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\n1) Take a lump sum payout and invest the money himself.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\n2) Take a monthly payout for just his lifetime.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\n3) Take a monthly payout for him and spouse that would<\/strong><\/em>
\ncontinue in the event he passed away.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\nThe issue as Kevin saw it was the monthly payout for just him\u00a0was higher than the option of the payout for life with him and
\nspouse. He would get about 25% less money in the monthly\u00a0payout if he took it for both of them. Also, if anything happened
\nto the both of them, their kids would get nothing.<\/p>\n

\nWe were able to look at the financial implications of him taking\u00a0the lump sum payout and what investments were available that\u00a0would generate income for him and his wife. After careful review, we revealed that his lifetime payout on his pension for Kevin and\u00a0Irene was the most appropriate selection for them financially.<\/p>\n

\nAfter discussing the options with him and his wife, Irene, they\u00a0were both excited about getting lifetime income from his pension.\u00a0This allowed us to make recommendations with their other\u00a0retirement funds that not only created additional monthly\u00a0income but would also leave something for his kids when they passed.<\/p>\n
