A Grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own, so she likes other people\u2019s little girls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Grandfather is a man grandmother. He goes for walks with the boys, and they talk about fishing and tractors, and like that. Grandmothers don\u2019t have to do anything except to be there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They\u2019re old so they shouldn\u2019t play hard or run. It is enough if they drive us to the market where the \u201cpretend horse\u201d is, and have lots of dimes ready. Or, if they take us for walks they should slow down going past things like pretty leaves or caterpillars. They should never, ever say \u201cHurry Up.\u201d Usually they are fat, but not too fat to tie kid\u2019s shoes. They wear glasses and funny underwear. They can take their teeth and gums off too. It is better if they don\u2019t typewrite or play cards except with us. They don\u2019t have to be smart, only answer questions like-\u201cwhy dogs hate cats,\u201d and \u201cHow comes God isn\u2019t married.\u201d They don\u2019t talk baby-talk like visitors do because it\u2019s hard to understand. When they read to us they don\u2019t skip or mind if it\u2019s the same story over again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Everybody should try to have one, especially if they don\u2019t have television because Grandmas are the only grown-ups who have<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> got time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My father-in-law wrote this when our kids were little so it has been a long time ago. Except for no TV, the pretend horse, and a typewriter, I would say it is still \u201cright on.\u201d Life spins by so fast we forget to \u201cstop\u201d and live life. We rush through the years, so busy providing for our family, caring for our home and everyone in it, we don\u2019t stop to share time with those we love. So be a \u201cGrandma\u201d for a few hours and remember how fun it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Put names on those old pictures so others can later say, \u201cthat\u2019s my Uncle Joe, or I look just like my Great-grandmother! Wouldn\u2019t that\u00a0be wonderful? We aren\u2019t useless unless we let ourselves be. Make good use of this \u201cfree\u201d time you are going to have.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We all are adapting to becoming \u201cSenior Citizens.\u201d Sometimes it can be a bargain or a Senior Discount! Yeah! Movies are cheaper and don\u2019t forget the senior beverage.\u00a0 Take advantage of your status, you\u2019ve earned it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Just because we have aged-in doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t do things. Consider donating your knowledge or skills to those that don\u2019t have them. Maybe you\u2019re good on a computer, or enjoy knitting; share that skill. Want to keep fit, direct a water exercise class at a Senior Center. You get fit and help others do the same. Offer to walk a neighbor\u2019s dog if they aren\u2019t up to doing it just now. There\u2019s always something that needs to be done. Do it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[spacer height=&#8221;20px&#8221;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Never give up! Even just talking to someone can make their day and yours a little bit better.
